FEB. 3, 2009 -- Windsor mayor Eddie Francis went directly to jail Wednesday in promoting the Monopoly Canada competition. 2010 marks the 75th anniversary of the popular board game. Windsor is hoping to win an online vote placing it ahead of 64 other communities across the country vying for the title. The promotion was held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help elementary school where grades seven and eight students made a giant Windsor version of the Monopoly board. DEC. 11/06 - The official opening of the steel arch Wyandotte Bridge was held Monday as a group of enthusistic neighbours looked on. The structure will link Wyandotte St. E. from Riverdale Ave. to Martinique Drive. Spanning 30 metres, the bridge provides two motor vehicle lanes, two sidewalks and two bicycle paths. Snow began falling in earnest in Windsor and Essex County Thursday afternoon, creating slippery conditions for the commute home.

Environment Canada was calling for as much as four centimetres of snow today with a 30 km/h wind gusting to 50 km/h.

More snow is forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday though not the same sort of dumping that blasted the area to kick off 2014.

Saturday’s high is forecast at -7 C and Sunday’s high is forecast at -3 C.
