Windsor Police investigate at the corner of Erie Street East and Pierre Avenue following a shooting which sent at least one person to hospital Thursday May 8, 2014. A shooting Thursday night in the 900 block of Pierre Avenue sent at least one person to hospital with unknown injuries. Sgt. Steve Betteridge said the original call for an ongoing fight out in the street was followed by Òa shots fired call.Ó Betteridge wouldnÕt say if any arrests had been made but detectives, identification officers and a canine were on the scene combing  the area near Erie Street East looking for Òany potential suspects or outstanding property.  First Special Service Forces Canadian Army veteran Ralph Mayville of Windsor, Ontario, recently "earned" his paratroopers wings followiing a parachute jump from 14,000 feet.  Mayville, 92, served with the elite "Black Devils" or First Special Service Forces, a joint U.S. and Canadian commando unit during WWII. Members of the First Special Service Forces were given wings (in photo, top wings medallion) though Mayville never parachuted because he volunteered to join the unit on short notice due to heavy casualties.
