Ross Paisley, city recreation director, told the recreation committee Monday night that there just wasn’t room enough for all the children. Gerald Godfrey, 15, of 845 Albert Rd., is shown diving into the river at the East Windsor Bathing Beach on the morning of June 12, 1956 while city pools were closed.

One of Windsor’s oldest businesses, Walkerville Brewery Limited has just completed its fifty-fourth successful year of operation with business for 1939 showing a highly gratifying increase.

During the past year Walkerville Brewery products found high favour in the far-off foreign markets of Jamaica, Trinidad, Bermuda and Dutch Guiana. Domestic sales have steadily advanced since the beginning of the year, with fall months showing large increases over the previous year.

The managment of the Walkerville Brewery is looking to still further progress in 1940 with resultant increases in employment for more of Windsor’s workers. A billboard for Walkerville Brewery is pictured in this Dec. 30, 1939 file photo.
